FBMKLCI 1582.35 DJ no market CRUDE OIL 95.04 RM 2.9670

Gopeng Bhd will be lifted from its Practice Note 17 (PN17) status effective today, the company announced in a Bursa Malaysia filing yesterday.

The market is again abuzz with speculation that Genting Bhd, whose businesses include gaming and leisure under Genting Malaysia Bhd in which the company has a 49.39% stake, is finalising the deal to acquire Tanjong plc's gaming unit Pan Malaysian Pools Sdn Bhd (PMP) for an estimated RM2.5bil. “They'll be signing the deal on Thursday worth RM2.5bil,” a source said, adding that four persons were involved in seeing the deal through. However, another source said Genting's bid has too many conditions and therefore the other bidders have been asked to resubmit their offers.

Low cost airline AirAsia is set to become one of the biggest airline groups in the world following its landmark order of 200 Airbus A320neos, said Frost & Sullivan Aerospace & Defence senior consultant Kunal Sinha.
The AirAsia deal is the largest ever single order placed with Airbus in terms of number of aircraft. The AirAsia group currently operates 89 A320s and already has orders for another 86 A320s. The 200 A320neos, which will be powered by CFM LEAP-X engines, will be delivered from 2016 to 2026,” he told Bernama yesterday.

JAKS Resources Bhd could attract trading interest on Tuesday, July 5 after it finally cleared the hurdle for a 1,200MW coal-fired power plant in Vietnam. For JAKS, the investment certificate is important for it to go ahead with the signing of the projects documents which include the build-operate-transfer (BOT) contract, power purchase agreement, coal supply and land lease.

DiJaya announced that Tael One Partners Ltd had acquired 22.75 million shares of the property company on Monday at RM1.65 per share. The shares amounted to 4.99%. DiJaya said TAEL One was acting in its capacity as general partner of The Asian Entrepreneur Legacy One, L.P.

Petronas Dagangan has proposed a special gross dividend of 25 sen  and final gross dividend of 35 sen per share in respect of the financial year ended March 31, 2011. The company said the special and final dividends would be paid on Aug 28, subject to shareholders’ approval at its annual general meeting to be held on July 28.

Jelas Ulung Sdn Bhd is not planning on asking the Government for an extension of PLUS Expressways Bhd's tolled-highway concessions post-2038 in its proposal to take over the company. Tan Sri Ibrahim Zain of Jelas Ulung told StarBiz this, adding that “our business model works well within the concession period until 2038 where we can already realise our investment by then”.

Jaks Resources Bhd, through subsidiary Jaks Sdn Bhd, has secured a RM201mil contract from MNH Global Assets Management Sdn Bhd for a commercial project located in Ara Damansara. MNH Global Assets is wholly-owned by Island Circle Development (M) Sdn Bhd, a major shareholder of Jaks Island Circle Sdn Bhd.

Wah Seong Corp Bhd’s wholly owned direct and indirect subsidiaries, Wah Seong International Pvt Ltd and Wasco E&P Services Ltd, have disposed of their 60% equity stakes in DrilBits International Pvt Ltd and DrilTools International FZCO, respectively. Wah Seong, in a filing to Bursa Malaysia yesteday, said the shares were sold to Omni Oil Technology Holdings Ltd in two separate agreements. The deals are expected to be completed in the first quarter next year.

Sunway City Bhd is acquiring 64.63 acres near Johor Baru from Bukit Lenang Development Sdn Bhd for RM134.52mil.

Furniture maker Kenmark Industrial Co (M) Bhd, a financially distressed company, would be removed from the official list of Bursa Malaysia this Friday.

Sime Darby Plantation SB is partnering Japan's Mitsui Engineering and Shipbuilding Co Ltd to build and operate a bio-ethanol demonstration plant, which will convert empty oil palm fruit bunches into bio-ethanol. Sime Darby officials said the plant would cost about USD10m (RM30.9m). Bio-ethanol is used as fuel for cars and unlike biodiesel, which is a blend of palm oil and diesel, it is made from plantation waste. The bio-ethanol plant will use fruit bunches as the main raw material, which is abundant and available throughout the year, Sime said in a statement. The collaboration is being undertaken by Sime Darby Research SB, the research and development arm of Sime Darby Plantation. The joint-venture plant will be built next to Sime Darby Plantation's Tennamaram palm oil mill at Bestari Jaya in Selangor.

Permodalan Nasional Bhd (PNB) was mum on speculation of mergers among its property companies or the relisting of its wholly-owned property group Island & Peninsular Group SB (I&P). "We will make the necessary announcements when the time comes," president and group chief executive Tan Sri Hamad Kama Piah Che Othman told reporters yesterday. There have been reports that major property groups like SP Setia and Sime Darby Property could be persuaded to merge. PNB is the single biggest shareholder in SP Setia and it also controls Sime Darby. As for the I&P group, it is the result of a merger with sister companies Petaling Garden and Pelangi. All three were once listed before being taken private by PNB in July 2007. The group now has a combined landbank of about 2,200ha in the Klang Valley and Johor, and has developed property projects over 35 townships such as Bukit Damansara, Bandar Kinrara, and Alam Damai

TM stands to gain RM444.7 million through the proposed sale of some 191.46 million shares it holds in Axiata Group Bhd, representing a 2.27% stake via private placement or in the open market.

Glomac’s 1HFY11 results stripping out the RM4.9m fair value gain on properties, its 1HFY11 turnover and core net profit improved significantly by 99% (+12% q-o-q) and 47% (+40% q-o-q) respectively on the back of higher progress billings from its high unbilled sales. Its latest unbilled sales stood at RM572m (1.8x FY10’s turnover).

IJM Corp and JAKS Resources’ 60:40 joint venture has secured a RM268.5m contract from the Ministry of
Energy, Green Technology and Water for the Pahang-Selangor Raw water transfer project. The project involves the construction of 3m nominal diameter mild steel pipes with a total length about 24km and two access roads of 1.9km and 1.5km long (including 80m long bridge).

EPF will raise up to RM765.5m from a planned sale of a block of RHB Capital shares, which will see its shareholding in the bank drop below the 50% mark. A term sheet detailing the placement exercise obtained by Reuters showed that the indicative pricing of the placement had been set at between RM7.50 and RM7.90 per share.
